Mangalore, July 20, 2013: State Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology and District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai inaugurated the ‘Inspire Award Science exhibition’ at Pilikula Science Centre on July 20, Saturday. The event was organized by Pilikula Regional Science Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Rai said that such kind of exhibitions will encourage students in the field of science. If people in the past used to crave for learning science and technology, but lacked the opportunity, the present generation has a good environment and host of opportunities to learn science, he observed.















Referring to several talents from the DK who have won laurels at national and international levels, Rai said such talents are a pride of the district. “Teachers must strive to bring out the talent in every student through such events.This is a good platform to exhibit their creativity, he said.
ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni said that Dakshina Kannada is a district of educated and intelligent people and added it was a matter of honour to serve the district.
The model ‘Censored Street Light’ of seventh standard student Chaitra of Koyyode Higher Primary School attracted many at the event. She said that the model was made with PIR censor and that such kind of censored lights will save power.
MLA Shakuntala Shetty, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, TP president Harish Kumar, Philomena Lobo, Principal, District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and others were present.
