Puttur: Youth booked for sexually assaulting minor girl, remanded to judicial custody till Sept 9

Puttur, Aug 29, 2025: A youth has been booked at the Puttur Women’s Police Station in connection with a case of sexual harassment of a minor girl.

According to the complaint, the minor from Guddagadu near the railway tracks in Puttur alleged that a man had repeatedly subjected her to sexual assault.

The victim had been living with her mother and younger sister in a rented house in Puttur town for the past two months. Since March 2025, she had been in touch with the accused over the phone using her mother’s mobile. She stated that the accused took her to a deserted area near the railway tracks and forcibly assaulted her. She further alleged that he continued to summon her to the same spot and subjected her to repeated assaults.

Based on her statement, the police registered a case under Sections 64(2)(M) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, along with Sections 5(L) and 6 of the POCSO Act and other relevant provisions.

The accused was arrested and produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody till September 9, 2025. The investigation is in progress.
