Puttur, Dec 26,2012 : Thieves who broke into a house close by Bannur Church on the night of December 24, Monday have stolen gold worth nearly Rs 10 lakhs.

The theft occurred in the house of one Prameela Gonsalves after she and her daughter returned after attending the Christmas eve mass at the church. Incidentally the thieves who entered the house after breaking open the back door, stole the jewellery kept in a cupboard in the very room in which they were sleeping.
It is learnt, the thieves could easily lay their hands on the cupboard keys and then escaped with the jewels and some NRI cheques.
Prameela’s husband worked abroad. Reports said she who usually kept her jewels in the bank locker, had brought it back the previous day to wear it for Christmas.
A dog squad and finger print experts have been pressed into service. Puttur police are conducting the investigations.
