Puttur, Aug 17, 2025: The Bellare police have arrested a man who had been absconding for over five years in connection with a long-pending theft case. The accused, identified as Unmesh, was traced and apprehended in Kerala after a sustained manhunt.

Puttur Theft Accused Nabbed

Unmesh was wanted in Crime No. 56/2020 registered at the Bellare police station under Sections 457 and 380 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code, relating to housebreaking and theft. Despite repeated summons, he failed to appear before the court, prompting the issue of a non-bailable warrant.

Based on credible intelligence, police tracked him down in Kerala and took him into custody. He was produced before the court on August 17 and has been remanded to judicial custody.

Police officials said the arrest highlights their efforts to clear pending cases and bring long-evading accused to justice.
