Pregnant woman, hubby attacked in moving bus near Bajpe

Mangaalore, Nov 9, 2013 :  An incident wherein a  gang of five persons including a bus conductor assaulted a pregnant woman and her husband  and even robbed the woman’s gold chain in a moving bus, has  been reported from Manala near Bajpe on November 8, Friday evening. A complaint has been lodged in Bajpe police station.

The victims have been identified as Ansar (32) and his wife Maimuna (32) of Manala. The incident took place when the couple were returning home in the RajashreeTravels bus after  a medical check-up  of Maimuna who is eight months pregnant, at the Lady Goschen Hospital.

In his complaint, Ansar has alleged that a man who was drunk had picked up a quarrel with him after he made a request for a seat to his pregnant wife. Ansar alleged that the bus conductor and four others assaulted him and his wife as the bus reached Manala. He has also alleged that his wife’s burqa was torn during the assault.

Ansar in his complaint has named  the accused as Balakrishna, Nitin, Purusha and Sridhar and alleged that a gold chain weighing two sovereigns has  also been  robbed by the assailants.

It has been gathered that Maimuna has now been admitted to Lady Goschen Hospital as the assailants had even reportedly hit her stomach.
