Udupi, March 7, 2012 : Interacting with reporters at the Press Club on March 6 Tuesday, B. Janardhan Poojary, the senior Congress leader and former union minister, said that conditions are favorable for the Congress in Udupi as well as Chikmagalur.

He said that he had just campaigned in Chikmagalur, during which he became convinced that people are attracted to the Congress because they are tired of the BJP’s scams, scandals, and corrupt activities.

Poojary also said that a media report on Monday mentioned that Shriramulu, the former minister, had stated that his party had donated Rs. 200 crore to Yeddyurappa. Poojary demanded an inquiry into how they got that much money and what exactly Yeddyurappa did with that money.

Poojary also wanted to know if they had actually purchased the BJP for Rs. 200 crore before realizing that Yeddyurappa had stabbed him and the Reddys in the back. Wondering why the Income Tax Department has done nothing about Yeddyurappa, Poojary demanded an investigation to be conducted at the earliest.

Stating that B. S. Yeddyurappa is now in a desperate condition and that he keeps changing his statements on a daily basis, Poojary said that he is not allowing DVS to do his work in peace. Alleging that Yeddyurappa is power hungry, he said that his sons and son-in-law are engaged in a number of scams. Besides, 11 ministers have been charged on counts of land grabbing, he added.

He also made a sarcastic comment that Karnataka has no government, and that if there was a government, nobody would have assaulted the media last week in the premises of a Bangalore civil court. Stating that the police simply stood around and watched without taking any action, he said that DVS has no experience and no control over his ministers. Although half the state is suffering from drought, the chief minister has done nothing about it; instead, he is spending all his time dealing with internal conflicts within the party, alleged Poojary.

Expressing his conviction that people have had enough of the BJP, he said that the Congress has done everything to ensure the success of its candidate. He further said that the presence of a JD (S) candidate does not dim the Congress’s chances of success.

K. P. Nanjundi, the secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC); Ashok Kumar Kodavoor; Harikrishna Bantwal; Bose Raj; and many others were also present.
