Mangalore, Aug 6: Several Congress workers led by B. Janardhan Poojary, the former union minister, performed urulu seve (crawling ritual) and offered special poojas at Shri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple on Saturday for the speedy recovery of Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the All India Congress Committee, who is undergoing a surgery in the US. Poojary also performed belli rathothsava and panchamrthaabisheka to appease the deity.
Speaking in praise of Sonia Gandhi, Poojary said that the nation requires the services of Mrs. Gandhi, who has made education a fundamental right for kids aged below 14. The nation has benefited immensely because of programmes such as rural employment guarantee scheme, he added.
Speaking of his devotion toward Lord Gokarnatheshwara, he said that people such as Harish Kumar and Jaya C. Suvarna have been cured of cancer due to the blessings of Lord Gokarnanatheshwar. He expressed hopes that the Lord would cure Sonia Gandhi.
Mr. Poojary also requested all churches, gurudwaras, and mosques to pray for the speedy recovery of Sonia Gandhi.
MLAs Abhay Chandra Jain and U. T. Khader, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza, Harish Kumar, and Harikrishna Bantwal also prayed for their leader.
