Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Jan 25, 2012: Former union minister B Janardhan Poojary said that the district Congress will hold a 4 day long  padayatra from Tokkottu to Udupi covering the twin districts   on Jan 29, Tuesday to focus on the failure of the BJP government in the state and the developmental programmes initiated by the Union Government.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Jan 25, Friday, he said several senior leaders of the party including KPCC Chief Dr G Parameshwar will participate in the padayatra.

Commenting on the recent political turmoil over the absence of Speaker KG Bopaiah, Poojari  said the incident has created history in the state and added Bopaiah was unfit for the post. He said the Speaker has not improved his style of functioning ever after the Supreme Court criticized his behaviour on an earlier occasion.

“When astronaut Sunitha Williams went on a space mission the whole world knew about it, but in Karnataka neither the government nor the chief minister knew the whereabouts of the speaker,” ridiculed Poojari.

Suspecting if the speaker was facing life threat or had fallen ill, Poojari declared that he would beg in the Hampankatta area and raise Rs 5000 to be rewarded to the person who provides details regarding wherabouts of the speaker within four hours.

On the high drama regarding the budget presentation, Poojari said it is not possible to present budget as the budget proposals will be implemented in March end when the election process will be underway.

Referring to the statewide protest staged by the BJP condemning Union Home Minister Shindhe’s remarks, Poojari said it helped the Congress gain free publicity and also made people aware of the terror links of RSS. He also wanted to know why the BJP backed the Hindu terrorists of the Malegaon blast case and failed to condemn provocative speeches of Pramod Mutalik.

Congress leaders Arun Coelho, Kallige Tharnath Shetty, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty and Harikrishna Bantwal were present at the press meet.
