Polytechnic students protest against new rules

Mangalore, July 14, 2012 : The All College Student Association organized a protest in front of the DC’s office on July 13, Friday. A number of students from polytechnic colleges in Karnataka took part.

According to the education board’s latest guidelines, diploma students who have failed in more than 4 subjects in one semester exam will not be admitted to the next semester, owing to which many students will lose a year. The protestors said that the old rules allowed students to be admitted to the next year even if they failed 10 subjects.

One of the student protestors complained that the new rule has badly affected students who belong to the working class.

The students also staged a street play on this occasion.
