Police suspect hands of Ravi Poojari gang behind Bevinje shoot-out

 Kasargod, July 19, 2013 : As investigations are underway into the case of shoot-out at a PWD contractor’s house at Bevinje on July 18, Thursday, police have a strong suspicion that this might be the handiwork of the gang of underworld don Ravi Poojari.

Some unidentified bike bound assailants had opened fire at the house at around 5 am when the contractor Mohammad Kunhi and his son were away at the mosque for morning prayers. One of the bullets had pierced through the wall and shattered the window panes. However, none was hurt in the incident.

Sources said the office of a Malayalam newspaper had received a call from some people saying the act was the handiwork of Ravi Poojari gang.

Senior police officials including the SP Thomson Jose visited the house. A police official said some miscreants had opened fire at Kunhi’s house three years ago too demanding a hafta of Rs 50 crore.

So far, there are no arrests in this case.
