Poisoned milk rumor terrifies city

Mangalore, Aug 20, 2012: The city got panicky on August 20, Monday when certain unknown miscreants began spreading rumors that Nandini milk has been poisoned. The rumors spread across several parts of DK, terrifying a large number of people who depend on Nandini milk. 

 

 

 

The poisoned Nandini milk rumor got various hues and colors as it spread from person to person and from region to region. While some got the news that miscreants had thrown poison into the milk, others got the news that some people in Ullal had fainted and even had to be hospitalized after drinking Nandini milk. 

Worried citizens began flooding media offices with calls and demanded to know the truth. Some of them even reported that certain prominent people in certain DK villages had informed people that Nandini milk has been poisoned and that people must stop using it. 

Although KMF officers continuously informed people that the milk was as safe and clean as usual, it did not stop people from throwing away Nandini milk packets in some places. 

Rubbishing the rumors, DK Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited President Raviraj Hegde said that some miscreants have deliberately spread such rumors to terrify the public. He assured people that they can safely use Nandini milk and urged them not to pay attention to such baseless rumors.
