Mangalore, July 8, 2012: Gulzar, the renowned poet, inaugurated Rendezvous with Feminine, an exhibition of the paintings of Wilson J. P. D’Souza, in Orchid Art Gallery. Mr. D’Souza had painted these paintings over a period of three years.
Most of the paintings are based on the feminine theme, and some of the best pieces are Farmer and His Wife, Romantic Moment, Migration, I Am Losing Identity, Dance and Rejoice, Motherly Love, and others.
Giselle Mehta, writer and former bureaucrat, and Juliana D’Souza, mother of Wilson D’Souza, were among the dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Gulzar spoke of the similarities between poetry and paintings and wished the artist all success.
In her address, Giselle said that she had chosen one of Wilson’s paintings for the cover page of her novel Blossom Showers. She presented a copy of her novel to Gulzar on this occasion.
Mr. Wilson also presented his painting Musician Women to Gulzar. The public can view this exhibition till July 15.
