Mangalore, Aug 27, 2013 : Two elephants from Pilikula in Mangalore will this time have the opportunity to take part in the world famous Mysore Dasara celebrations.
Twenty six year old Durgaparameshwari, a female elephant and twenty eight year old Prashanth, a male elephant are the lucky ones. They have already been sent to Nagara hole where they are being trained for the purpose.
Tuskers namely Arjuna, Varalakshmi, Kaveri, Vijay, Gajendra, Gopalkrishna are among others which are in the list of elephants which are likely to take part in Dasara procession.
If Prashanth had been taken to the Dubare Elephant camp six months ago itself, Durga Parameswhari was transported recently along wth Abhimanyu from the Nagarahole park. Abhimanyu already has the experience of taking part in Dasara procession.
Durgaparameshwari has a three year old baby elephant named Radha. The officials had already initiated the process of weaning and had shifted Radha to KR Gudi Elephant Camp and Durga Parameshwari to Nagarahole some time back.
Presently, Pilikula is left with no elephants. Two baby elephants are likely to be brought here after monsoons.
