Perne gas tanker tragedy : Rai distributes Rs 43.2 lakhs relief to affected families

Bantwal, July 22, 2013 :  A total compensation amounting to Rs 43.2 lakhs has been  distributed  among  14 families   affected by the Perne gas tanker tragedy which took place near Uppinangady. State Minister for Forest and Ecology and DK District in-Charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai distributed the compensation on behalf of the HPCL at his office on July 21, Sunday.

Cheque amounting to Rs 7.46 lakhs was handed over to Sunder Rai, while Shanker Rai, another affected person got a cheque for  Rs 2.83 lakhs. Children of Khateejamma who lost her life in the mishap got  a cheque for Rs 3.93 lakhs. Similarly, Ismail Haji(Rs 7.17 lakh), Narayana Naik(Rs 4.10 lakh), Batya Naika(Rs 1.23 lakh), Ismail Shafi (Rs 4.04 lakh), Umar (Rs 3.02 lakh), Abbas (0.88 lakh), Ummappa Poojari (3.58 lakh), G Ummar (Rs 1.24 lakh), Chandrashekhar (Rs0.90 lakhs), Abdulla(Rs 2.60 lakhs) and Yusuf(Rs 0.29 lakh), received cheques on the occasion.

Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty, ZP Member Chandrashekhar Shetty Thumbay, Malleswami, Tahsildar, Vishwanath Poojari, TP Executive Officer and others were present.
