Mangalore, Oct 14, 2012: Four artists from Dharwad and Haveri are exhibiting their paintings at Prasad Art Gallery in Mangalore for five days, starting Oct 14, Sunday.
Titled Janapada Jeevagalu, the exhibition comprises the paintings of Kariyappa Hanchinamani and Shiva Hadimani of Haveri and Kumar Katenahalli and Kallappa Chougale of Dharwad.


M. Raghunath Shet, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Sangama, inaugurated the exhibition.
In his inaugural address, he said that art evolves over time, owing to which paintings change as per the individual point of view. He urged artists to paint for the sake of art and not for monetary gains. He also suggested the construction of a theatre in the city to encourage artists to exhibit their works of art.
Ananth Padmanabha Rao, president of the DK Zilla Makkala Sahitya, said that artists ought not to be just successful, but also effective.
The artists have exhibited 35 oil and acrylic paintings based on the theme of folk art.
