Mangalore, May 2, 2013: “Only Congress can give a stable Government in Karnataka” said Ooman Chandy, Kerala Chief Minister while addressing a press conference held at Congress election office in Kadri on Thursday, May 02.

 

Mr. Chandy said that Congress is the only secular political party which can meet the aspirations of all the people of the country. He said that he is quiet confident of the outcome of the election and it will be in favor of Congress party in Karnataka. “I have come here to campaign for the Congress party” and I have attended several meetings including seven assembly segments in Karnataka in the last two days. "I am very confident of the Congress coming to power in Karnataka" he added.

He added that the mood of the people and their enthusiasm shows in favour of the Congress party. The people of Karnataka have suffered during the BJP rule immersed in controversies, Scams and communal riots.  “People wants a strong, transparent and working Government which can be given by Congress party only” said Mr. Chandy.


Replying to a question raised by one of the journalists, whether he would be meeting Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi  who is also in town, he said that Mr. Modi have come to campaign for BJP and I have come to campaign  for Congress, so there is no question of meeting him. To another question of SDPI playing spoil- sport, he said it would not make any difference to the prospect of Congress.


With regard to the scam and allegations of UPA Government, he agreed that there were scams and allegations like 2G and Commonwealth scam but the Government took action against the scamsters and culprits in time. 


Oomman Chandy will be campaigning in Bantwal, Puttur and Belthangadi today before leaving the state.


Prior to the press conference, Mr. Chandy had addressed a group of Malayalee students at Sahodaya hall, Balmatta and urged them to vote for congress whoever has the voting right in Karnataka.
