Mangalore, May 15, 2014: Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, addressed a packed press conference here on Wednesday May 14. The mood in the run up to the counting day tomorrow, May 16, is visibly upbeat all over the area.


The DC underscored the regulation that  Mobile phones and electronic gadgets as also cigarettes are strictly prohibited inside counting center at Bondel. Polling agents must posses the correct identity cards which have already had been issued. At 7 am, the doors of the strong room will be opened after the seals are certified. The counting will commence from 8 am. The counting process is based at Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Pre-University College, Bondel - for Mangalore.

Training was also held earlier yesterday for all the concerned officials.  It is cleared there will be 15 rounds of counting for Mangalore and Moodbidri assembly segments, 16 rounds for Mangalore South and Puttur, 17 rounds for Mangalore North and Sullia, and 18 rounds for Bantwal assembly segment constituency, All eventualities are catered for and the systems are in place.

Media Note from DC : "A media center is to be provided, the election counting process will be telecast through a private channel. People can watch this from their homes. All election counting staff and counting agents should follow discipline and maintain proper decorum all through,"

Traffic Diversions and Parking norms:
 
The Deputy Commissioner DK also the Returning Officer, has promulgated a strict statutory order in and around Bondel during the time of counting the votes on May16.

Vehicles moving along KPT to Bondel , towards Kavoor should take a left turn near Daijiworld Residency building (opp the Church) and take the route of Gundurao Lane and KHB Colony Road to reach the main road at Kavoor Junction. Vehicles moving to the airport must take Kuntikan-Kavoor or Kulur-Kavoor Junction route.

Vehicles destined to counting centre should reach their parking lots in KHB Ground, through Gundurao Lane. While going out from KHB Ground, they should take Kavoor Junction Road. Vehicles coming to the center from Kavoor Junction can reach Women’s Polytechnic and park their vehicles there. While going out from the polytechnic, they should take the road leading to Kavoor Junction only.

It must be strictly noted, movement of all vehicles towards KHB Road and Gundurao Lane from KHB office has been banned. Parking of vehicles on KHB Road and Gundurao Lane has also been banned. Entry of vehicles on the road between Bondel Junction and Gundu Rao Lane Road and parking have also been banned. Vehicles coming from Bajpe can take Kuntikan or Kulur Road routes from Kavoor Junction.

A special release confirms,  the above restrictions will not apply to police on duty, election officers, essential services, and vehicles holding authorised passes. All due caution and regulation has been advised.
