Mangalore, Nov 29, 2013 : The Nitte University Centre for Animal Research and Experimentation and the new Pharmacy Practice Block of the Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Derlakatte were inaugurated on November 28, Thursday by Dr B Suresh, President of Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi.
In his address, Suresh said the cost of medicines in India was comparatively less when compared to foreign nations. At the same time he said India is facing the inevitability of purchasing some medicines from Western nations at two to three times higher their cost. This problem has to be sorted out, he said.
He also stressed the need for Indian pharmacologists to update their knowledge on latest advancements in the field.
Dr Suresh also released the Pharmacy Practice Communicator issue brought out by the Institute.
Prof. S Ramananda Shetty, Vice Chancellor of Nitte University, Prof. CS Shastri, Principal of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences also spoke.
Prof. M Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor of Nitte University presided over the function. Sudhaker Nayak, Registrar, Dr Jane Jacob, Associate Professor and others were present.
