Mangalore, August 22, 2012: The Karavali Sauhardha Sangharsha Samithi, in collaboration with the CPI (M), the JD (S), and the Congress, will organize a massive protest rally and demonstration against moral policing on September 4, Tuesday.
Making the above announcement at a press conference held at Hotel Woodlands on August 22, Wednesday, MLA Ramanath Rai, president of the district unit of the Congress, said that DK has witnessed a number of communal and moral policing incidents, in which members of pro Hindu outfits have attacked women.
Speaking about the Karavali Sauharda Sangharsha Samithi, he said that it is a non-profit organization formed in protest against not only the recent home stay attack, but also against other acts of injustice and violence toward women. He said that the samithi will hold a number of programs in the near future.
Speaking on the occasion, JD (S) State Secretary M. G. Hegde said that the recent home stay attack has affected not only the educational and economic status of the district, but also its future as a tourist hotspot.
