Navodaya Trust to give away uniforms to 2 lakh members

Mangalore, August 30, 2012: Navodaya Gram Vikasa Charitable Trust Chairman M. N. Rajendra Kumar announced at a press meet held at SCDCC Bank Conference Hall on August 30, Thursday that the trust will present uniforms to 2 lakh members of Navodaya Self-help Group at Loyola Hall on October 1.

Further, he said that the trust has decided to give away uniform saris to 2 lakh members to create a sense of unity and equality among them on the occasion of the trust’s 9th anniversary.

Speaking about the achievements of the trust, he said that it provides not only financial assistance, but also guidance and training, adding that the trust has organized three state-level exhibition-cum-sales so far for the benefit of members. The trust had organized Kundhotsava on Gandhi Maidan at Kundapur in 2005, Kudlotsava on Karavali Utsav Ground at Mangalore in 2006, and Navakundotsav on Gandhi Maidan at Kundapur in 2007, he said.

Besides, the trust organizes medical camps, provides medical assistance, and conducts blood donation camps, he said, adding that it has implemented Jeevan Madhura Life Insurance Policy and Chaitanya Insurance Policy.

He also said that Navodaya Trust and SCDCC Bank will jointly give Rs. 1 lakh as compensation to the family of Krishnappa Gowda, the soldier who was killed at the Indo-Pak border recently.

Trust Directors Rohan Monteiro, Sudhir Hegde, Ratnakar Shetty, Ekkaru Monappa Shetty, Poornima Shetty, Vinaya Kumar Soorinje, Parameshchandra Jain, and Sudharshan Jain were also present.
