Mangalore, Mar 27, 2012: Prof. G. V. Joshi, the member of the Planning Board of the Government of Karnataka, inaugurated a one-day national-level workshop titled “Inclusive Growth: Concept and Reality” on March 27 Tuesday, organized by the PG department of Economics of St. Aloysius College. 


In his inaugural address, he said that the human development report for 2011 sheds light on the rate of growth of human development in Karnataka, Goa, and Kerala.

Rev. Fr. Swebert D’Silva SJ, the principal of St. Aloysius College, presided over the event and voiced his opinion that the 12th plan must focus on equity and quality in education. Stating that less than 10 percent of the Indian youth can afford higher education, he said that growth is impossible without quality education.  


The resource persons of the workshop were Dr. T. Mallikarjunappa, the professor of the department of business administration and coordinator MBA (tourism administration) at Mangalore University; Dr. Mani K. P., the professor and head of the department of economics at SVS College Bantwal; and Shri B. V. Raghunandan, the associate professor of commerce at Justice K. S. Hegde Institute of Management. 


Students from first grade colleges and post graduate colleges from Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala participated in this workshop.
