Addressing the gathering, she said the readers must completed read and understand this well-researched book in order to appreciate it. She also said that the book just released is not the type of book that can be kept aside and forgotten after one read, but can be used for continuous reference and to solve a number of problems.

Pointing out the shortcomings of blindly following the philosophies of saints and scholars of the past, she said that one needs to think on one’s own.

A. Narasimha Bhat said that people usually criticize translated works by saying that it is not creative and added that only the translator knows the difficulties of translating a good book. Owing to the large number of languages in the world, translating good books is a must if one wants to share one’s literary treasures with people speaking another language, he said.

Erya Lakshminaraya Alva delivered the introductory address. Dr. G. N. Bhat, the principal of Canara College, delivered the welcome address. Canara College Association President Annappa Pai was also present.
