Nandini milk price shoots up by Rs 4 per litre

Bangalore , Feb 9, 2013 :  The KMF has given a big jolt to people of the state by increasing the prices of Nandini milk and curds by Rs 4 per liter with effect from February 9, Saturday morning. However, the price of Samriddhi brand of milk has been increased by Rs 2 per litre.

nandini 1The decision was taken at a board of directors meeting of KMF held on February 8, Friday under the chairmanship of Somashekhara Reddy, KMF Chairman.

The KMF has since long put forth the proposal to hike the prices, but the government had been putting off the same. Reports now say the state government has orally  given a go ahead to hike the prices. 


Earlier, the KMF Chairman Reddy had threatened to hike the prices unilaterally on the grounds that the Federation was incurring losses .


 The Karnataka Government also distributes subsidy at the rate of two rupees per litre
 to dairy farmers.The KMF had hiked milk prices about a year ago.

As per the hiked prices, the price of DTM (double toned milk)  has shot up  to Rs 27 from Rs 23 per litre, that of homogenised milk from Rs 28 to Rs 32 and curd from Rs 30 to Rs 34. The price of buttermilk (200 ml) has been increased to Rs 6 from the earlier Rs 5.
