Muhurat of Dolphy Cascia’s play Dubavacho Dunhvor held

Mangalore, march 31, 2012 : The muhurat of the Konkani play Dubavacho Dunhvor written by Dolphy Cascia, a noted Konkani playwright and journalist, was held at Sandesha recently. Sangathi Kalakar, a group of amateur theatre artists led by John Permannur, is the producer of this play.

 

 

 

 

 

Sandesha Director Fr. Valerian, who was the guest of honor, distributed copies of the script among the actors.

The event was inaugurated by Manu Bahrain, the Konkani writer. M. John Permannur, the ace director, read out selected dialogues from the play. He is going to direct the play.

Dolphy Frederick Lobo of Cascia, who now resides in Vamanjoor, is popularly known as Dolphy Cascia. The winner of several prestigious awards, he has to his credit over 25 plays in Konkani. He started his career by writing a Tulu drama called Drohi in 1970. Next year, he wrote his Konkani play Koimsor Asa Bachavi. He has written and staged 9 Tulu plays, 1 Kannada play, and 25 Konkani plays. He even managed a theatre group called Chetan Kala Kendr from 1974 to 1986 and presented plays in Bombay, Karwar, Bangalore, and other parts of India.

M. John Permannur, who is going to direct the play, won the Best Drama title in the All India Konkani Drama Competition organized by Daiji Dubai Konkani Writers Forum in UAE as part of their 10th anniversary for his play Ratnagiricho Sardar, based on Julius Caesar.

Martin D’Souza Vamanjoor, Floyd D’Mello Cascia, Leslie Ferrao Pemannur, Alwyn Miranda Jeppu, and Felix Monteiro Ranipura will play the lead roles in this play.

Several Konkani writers and artists were present at this muhurat.
