Movie stars grab attention by taking to politics

Udupi, March 15, 2012 : Film actors have been making headlines by joining political parties recently. Rakshita joined the new political party created by Shriramulu, Pooja Gandhi joined JD (S), and Bhavana and Adi Lokesh joined the Congress party recently.

 

 

 

 

 

Adi Lokesh and Bhavana received the membership form from Shantaram Naik, Goa MP and general secretary of the All India Congress Committee. Umashree, an actress turned politician, P. V. Mohan, and Bose Raj were also present on the occasion.

While Bhavana hails from Malpe, Adi Lokesh is from Mysore. When asked about their decision to join the Congress, Bhavana said that the Congress is a national party with a strong foundation and that she joined politics to work from within the system as the political scenario at the centre as well as the state is not that good.

Adi Lokesh also said that he joined the Congress party because it has a strong foundation and has had leaders such as Indira Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi. Stating that Rahul Gandhi is his role model, he said he has responded to Mr. Gandhi’s call to the youth to join politics.

The party then conducted a campaign in support of its candidate for the upcoming Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by polls.

 Ramya, another actress who recently joined the Congress party, visited Udupi Shri Krishna Mutt to offer special poojas and seek the blessings of Shri Vishwavallabha Teertha Swamiji of Sode Mutt.
