Minorities Guidance Forum to honor student achievers in city

Mangalore, June 21, 2012: The Muslim Educational Institutions Federation of DK and Udupi and Minorities Guidance Forum (educational and vocational) of Mangalore will organize a felicitation program in honor of SSLC and PUC achievers along with an educational empowerment seminar for Std. X students at Town Hall on June 23, Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

B. A. Mohideen, former minister for higher education, told reporters at a press conference held at Hotel Ocean Pearl that the forum has always focused on creating awareness among students on various educational opportunities available to them. Besides, it provides information on central and state government schemes and benefits for students belonging to minority communities.


Further, he said that the forum will identify students who score over 85 percent in various public exams and honor them.

He said that the forum will honor 220 students, including 170 SSLC students and 50 PU students. Students belonging to majority communities studying in minority schools and colleges will also be honored with certificates and cash prizes, he added.

Plama Developers Limited Chairman P. M. A. Razak will inaugurate the event, and B. A. Mohideen, former minister for higher education, will preside. Dr. M. Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, will deliver the motivational speech.

The chief guest will be Syed Mohammed Beary, chairman of Bearys Group of Institutions, and Walter Stephen Mendis, chairman of Western Institute of Technology. The guest of honor will be B. M. Mumthaz Ali, president of Al Badriya Educational Institution.
