Mangaluru, Aug 9, 2025: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday, August 8, directed Mangaluru City Police Commissioner to open a police outpost at the district Government Wenlock Hospital in the city.
He was chairing a meeting of Arogya Suraksha Samithi members of the Wenlock and Lady Goschen Hospitals along with Health and Family Welfare Department Commissioner at Arogya Soudha in Bengaluru.
The members told the Minister that the Wenlock receives patients from over 13 districts and witnesses heavy footfall round the clock. It was necessary to have a police outpost in view of the safety and security of hospital staff, patients and visitors as well, they said.
The members also brought to Mr. Rao’s attention the pending stipend payment to general nursing and midwifery (GNM) students for the last two years. The Minister directed the department commissioner to immediately release the stipend. He also asked the commissioner to take steps to fill several posts of medical officers and staff nurses that have become vacant for different reasons. The Minister also directed the commissioner to examine installation of solar power system for the entire hospital in view of heavy energy bills.
Mr. Rao also directed the commissioner to immediately release pending medicine bills at the Lady Goschen Hospital.
