Message from Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo to the voters of Karnataka

Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, April 30, 2013: Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo conveyed a message to voters of Karnataka that Casting vote is a constitutional right, the vote symbolizes the victory of Independence and its fruit is democracy. Voting is the primary part of democracy. We gain the power to question through our representative against the odds and evils.

Gerald Lobo 1It is not important to assume what I derive from casting vote? But it remains fruitful if we assume that my vote will decide our country’s future.

In India, every individual above 18 years of age has the right to vote. Voting is first and last chance to decide an able candidate for the prescribed term. Just shouting slogans of democracy will not bring any

changes but casting vote is important. If we neglect the voting right we will harm our future generation.

If we fail to cast our vote to right candidate, we will not be able to get good governance. We want a government which is for the people. Bishop Gerald said, "Vote for the right candidate and secure Indian democracy. The person who fails to cast his vote cannot claim the constitutional rights and he loses his right to criticize".

India remains united, sharing its love with all religions being a democratic nation. As Kuvempu quotes “It is a garden of peace for all humans” (Sarva Janangada Shanthiya Thota) and we being its democratic citizens are bound to save our country. It is compulsory on our part and a Holy right to vote.
