Maravoor bridge likely to open for light vehicles by month end

Mangaluru, Jul 27, 2021: The repair works of the Maravoor bridge following the recent cracks that developed in one portion of the bridge, are almost complete and there is a possibility of the administration permitting movement of light vehicles from July 30 onwards.

 

It may be recalled here that the bridge, a vital link to the Mangaluru International Airport, had developed cracks on June 15  resulting in one of its pillar slanting. The same has now been brought to its original position using most advanced technology with the guidance of experts from the Public Works Department.

There will be a test on July 29 to ascertain the safety aspect of the bridge and  if the test yields positive results,  buses and light vehicles may be allowed.
