Mangalore, Feb 17, 2012: Bovikan Manohar Nayak, son of Vatsala and late Bovikan Vaman Nayak, aged 50 years, passed away on Friday, 17th February 2012 at 6:25 a.m. at KMC Hospital, Attavar. He had been undergoing treatment for gastro-esophageal cancer for the last 10 months.


Manohar NayakBorn on 15th May 1962, he is an alumni of St. Aloysius High School and College. After the sudden and untimely demise of his father in 1978, being the eldest son of the family he had to discontinue his college studies in order to redeem his father’s family responsibilities. Then on, he devoted his attention to running his family business Nayaks Automobiles at Felix Pai Bazar and to take care of his mother and educate his siblings. Later he ventured into advertising business through his own firm ‘Agade Business Solutions’ offering copywriting, design, advertising, print and production services.

After he was diagnosed for adeno carcinoma of  gastro-esophageal junction in last March, he was admitted to Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre at Narayan Hridayalaya, Bangalore for treatment and surgery. However as the cancer was at an advanced stage, the illness relapsed soon after the surgery and took a turn for the worse in the last week. He was a popular Aloysian and had organized a reunion of his classmates two years back and all his classmates, friends and relatives rallied behind him in the battle against cancer. 

He has in the past served as an office bearer DK District Automobile & Tyre Dealers Association, Rotary Club Mangalore and Mangalore Toastmasters Club. He was also briefly associated with Mangalore Today English Monthly magazine.

He is survived by his wife Malavika Manohar (nee Chandravathi), mother Vatsala, brother Mahesh Nayak, sisters Roopa Shanbhag, Rekha Vijaykumar, Brother-in-Law Vijaykumar Karai and nephews Prithviraj and Parikshet.

The last rites were performed on the same evening at his residence at Hill Dale Manor Apartments, Lady Hill, Mangalore followed by the funeral at Boloor Crematorium. Large number of family members, classmates, friends and well wishers paid their final respects.
