Mangalore, Feb 6, 2013: C. Manjula, former chairperson of the Karnataka State Women’s Commission  has urged the government to set up a special task force to tackle the drug mafia.

Manjula further accused the BJP government of failing to act on the recommendations made by her in the report on the homestay attack. She said the report submitted by her while  serving as the Commission chairman was not at all considered and the victims were not even taken for a sniff test of drug or alcohol. “ Such  kind of parties will lead young girls astray. I am more concerned about the girls below 20 since it is a tender age, which shapes their future,” she added. She further charged the state as well as the Union governments of failing to crack down the drug mafia which was spreading  all over the nation, particularly among youth.

“After the homestay attack, even Oscar Fernandes opposed the report submitted by the Commission, but now after the death of Sneha, no one can  deny the menace of drugs,” she said. Manjula further said justice can be done to Sneha only when the drug mafia is cracked down.

On her joining the KJP, Manjula said she preferred the party  as it supported women’s issues.
