Mangaluru, Aug 8, 2025: Temples and homes across Mangaluru were filled with devotion and festive cheer on Friday, August 8, as Varamahalakshmi Pooja was celebrated with prayers for prosperity, health, and family well-beingg.
Women marked the occasion by adorning Kalashas with rice, mango leaves, coconuts, flowers, jewellery, and even currency garlands. The rituals began with prayers to Lord Ganapati, followed by the worship of Goddess Lakshmi in the form of a decorated pitcher or idol.
At Urwa Marigudi Temple, the celebration took on a vibrant community spirit as women gathered to exchange offerings and greetings. The festival feast featured traditional delicacies such as Obbattu, Huliyanna, and Payasam, while devotees visited relatives and friends to share sweets, flowers, and Prasadam.
