Mangaluru, December 16, 2025: Surathkal police have arrested three individuals in connection with a house burglary reported from Mukka Mithrapatna, where gold ornaments and cash were stolen from the residence of an elderly woman, Jalaja, on December 3.
The arrested accused are Shine H Putran alias Shayan alias Shine (21) of Guddekopla, Surathkal; Vinod alias Kothi alias Vinod Kumar (33) of Yelachenahalli, Bengaluru; and Girish alias Cycle Giri (28) of Udipalya, Kanakapura Main Road, Bengaluru.
Police recovered gold ornaments worth ₹4.43 lakh, the motorcycle used in the crime, three mobile phones, and ₹3,000 in cash from the accused.
Following the registration of the case, a police team led by Surathkal PSI Raghu Naik analysed CCTV footage from the area around the victim’s house. Based on the footage and interrogation, Shine H Putran was taken into custody. He confessed to committing the burglary along with Jason alias Lenson of Karkala, Udupi district, and revealed that the stolen gold had been sold to Vinod Kumar in Bengaluru.
Acting on this information, police arrested the three accused. Jason alias Lenson, who was directly involved in the burglary, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him.
Police said Shine H Putran has a previous case related to ganja consumption registered at Surathkal police station. Vinod Kumar has a rowdy sheet at KSR Layout police station, Bengaluru, and is involved in multiple cases, including murder, attempt to murder, robbery, criminal intimidation, ganja sale, and Arms Act violations. Girish alias Cycle Giri also has a rowdy sheet at Kaggalipura police station, Bengaluru, and faces several cases of attempt to murder, robbery, and assault registered across the city.
