Mangaluru, Aug 22, 2025: No one will face any obstruction in celebrating festivals according to the traditions of our religions and culture, said former KPCC general secretary Padmaraj R. Poojary.
He added that the ban on DJs is within the framework of law, and time restrictions existed even during the BJP’s rule. “Officials are bound to enforce the law. In the past too, police have never interfered with devotional celebrations. But the BJP has no other issues to talk about except raising such matters. They have always tried to mislead people. Public representatives are elected by voters to work for their welfare,” he said.
Kadaba Town Panchayat to be developed as model, says Congress District President Harish Kumar
Meanwhile, Congress district president Harish Kumar assured that, as promised during the elections, Kadaba Town Panchayat will be developed as a model.
Addressing a press meet at the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Office, he said the party’s victory in the elections was the result of the united efforts of its leaders, along with the state government’s “five guarantees.”
“BJP has alleged that Congress won the Kadaba Town Panchayat elections by distributing money and liquor. In reality, it was the BJP that distributed money. On polling day, while our workers were present at the booths, BJP leaders distributed cash in four wards and managed to capture two wards. They are now accusing Congress of doing what they themselves did. The voters are aware of this,” he stated.
Responding to BJP’s criticism that there has been no development under Congress, Harish Kumar clarified that development is not just about roads and buildings. “Improving people’s living standards is also important. The five guarantees have helped raise the standard of living. Around ₹55,000 crore is being spent on these guarantee schemes, and ₹10,000 crore has been allocated for agricultural pump sets,” he explained.
Speaking about internal reservation, he said it has been a struggle for three decades. “Now Congress has received the honour of implementing it effectively. Internal reservation is like touching a beehive—pleasing everyone is difficult. But the party has ensured justice for all communities,” he added.
Answering a reporter’s query, Harish Kumar said party organization is a continuous process at every level, and during local elections, voters also consider government programs and their impact on people’s lives.
Congress leaders M.S. Muhammed, Naveen D’Souza, Subhashchandra Shetty Appilata, Shashidhar Hegde Chittaranjan, Shahul Hameed, Nawaz, Dinesh, Vikas, Neerajpal, Prem Ballalbagh, and others were present.
