Mangaluru, Aug 8, 2025: A woman has alleged a beauty parlour on the Jyothi–Hampankatta road of engaging in inappropriate activities by offering massages to male clients.
Speaking at a press conference at the Press Club on Friday, August 8, the woman, who had been employed as a beautician at the parlour for about one and a half months, alleged that the owner instructed her to massage male customers and offer sexual services, charging them between ₹500 and ₹1,000.
She claimed that on August 6, a customer known to the owner visited the parlour. “The owner told me to massage him. I had no choice and complied, but when he asked for physical contact, I refused and tried to leave. The owner then assaulted me and took semi-nude photos of me on my phone,” she alleged.
According to her, the owner threatened to show the photos to her husband and even called him to another location to display them. She further alleged that several other women working at the parlour had also been subjected to mental and physical harassment, and that the owner had demanded ₹30,000 from her.
She said she has lodged complaints with the city police commissioner and the Bunder police station.
Former corporator Prathibha Kulai, who accompanied the victim, alleged, “The woman was forced to massage a male client and was harassed with semi-nude photographs. Even though a complaint was filed on August 6, police have not registered an FIR after two days.”
