Sudhanva S. KamathMangalore, June 30, 2012: Sudhanva S. Kamath of Mangalore is passionately fond of mathematics. Ever since he scored cent percent in his SSLC math paper, he decided to pursue a career in science. Having done his PUC, he is now doing a 4-year undergraduate B. S. Honors Program a Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. He aim is to conduct research in mathematics and specialize in Graph Theory and thus follow in the footsteps of Shyam Kamath, his father, a professor at NIT-K Suratakal, who he considers to be his role model.

Sudhanva qualified for the Karnataka Regional Mathematics Olympiad in 2010 and won a national fellowship from the Indian Government. Now aged 18, Sudhanva qualified for the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) fellowship program, under which he is getting as much as Rs 80,000 per year for his B. S. Honors course.

He answered the KYPY aptitude exam in 2010, immediately after his PUC. Around 75,000 students from all over India answered this exam, and Sudhanva was one of the few chosen to receive a fellowship. According to the KYPY website, selected students receive generous scholarships in the range of Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 7,000 per month.

When asked about his success formula, the youth admitted that he doesn’t believe in hard work alone, but feels that luck also is essential in taking people toward their goals.

Sudhanva is fond of music and plays the piano and harmonium. He is also a fan of the English Premier League’s Liverpool Football Club.
