Mangalore: Yuva Janata Dal stages protest against rising atrocities on women

Mangalore, Jan 19, 2013: District Yuva Janata Dal(S) staged a protest in front of DC Office on Jan 19, Saturday against the increasing cases of atrocities on women and to condemn the recent killing of Indian soldiers by Pakistan.

Addressing the protestors, Krishnappa Poojari, District President of Yuva Janata Dal(S) accused the Central government of not initiating any measure to protect the soldiers of the country.


The Union Government has even miserably failed to ensure protection for women who are subject to atrocities. In a way the government was encouraging crime against women by not enforcing stricter punishment to the guilty, he said.


The union government is answerable to the public on the measures it has taken to protect the women, he demanded.


Srinath Rai, District Yuva Janata Dal Working President said  rampant corruption and the rising cases of violence against women, has made the people of the country lower their heads in shame  and also has  forced them to take streets to protest against the problem.


Yuva Janata Dal leaders Vasanth Poojary, Mohammed Sali, Shashiraj Shetty, Akshath Suvarna, Wahid Khan, Aboobakker Ammunje, Hariprasad Rai, and others were present.
