Mangalore, August 28, 2012: Palale Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya and Prof. B. Narayana have been appointed as the registrar (administration) and registrar (evaluation) of Mangalore University.

Yadapadithaya, who hails from Kokkada in Belthangady, studied in Government Higher Primary School at Kokkada, SDM High School in Ujire, and SDM College. He secured his MCom degree from Mangalore University in 1982 with a first rank and a gold medal. He has 30 years of PG teaching experience to his credit and has guided 16 research scholars.

Richly experienced in human resource development, Yadapadithaya has won several national and international awards for his contributions to commerce teaching and research. He was also the finance officer of Mangalore University for three and a half years and the registrar (evaluation) of Mangalore University for 3 years before he got his promotion.

The founder secretary of the Mangala Alumni Association, he has served as the chairman of the PG Commerce Department, Chairman of Board of Studies and Examination Board, Dean of the Commerce Faculty, Syndicate member, and Academic Council member. He also played an active role in the computerization of UG and PG examination system so that the examinations results could be declared as quickly as possible.

About Prof. B.Narayana

Prof. B. Narayana, chairman of the Chemistry Department, is also the present chairman of BOE in chemistry and BOS in industrial chemistry.

He secured his MSc Degree from Calicut University with the III Rank. He also got his Ph.D. from Mangalore University under the guidance of Prof. M. R. Gajendragad. In 1988, he became a lecturer in chemistry and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1990.

The Association of Commonwealth Universities selected him for the prestigious Commonwealth Post Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Strathclyde at Glasgow in Scotland in 1999 – 2000. He has so far guided 19 Ph.D. and 6 M. Phil. Candidates. Currently, five students are doing their research under his guidance.

Prof. Narayan has published more than 590 papers in peer-reviewed international and national journals. He recently received a basic science research award grant of Rs. 7 lakhs from UGC for guiding more than 15 research scholars. He has also worked as the PI and CoPI in projects funded by NPC-Kaiga, DST, and BRNS.
