The drive was launched with an intention of making two-wheeler riding safe by convincing riders to wear  helmets having the ISI mark  As many as 50 sub-standard helmets were seized in Bunder police station limits.

According to one estimate, almost 80 per cent of the bike riders in Mangalore were not having helmets with the ISI mark though the state government, in an order passed in October 2010 has made it mandatory.

The fact is that most of the helmets sold in the market are sub-standard and may not come to the rescue of the riders at times of accident.
