Mangalore, Oct 8, 2012 : Prisoners in the Mangalore Sub Jail got into a fight on the afternoon of Sunday although the authorities have denied it.
Reportedly, seven prisoners were injured and required medical treatment. The Barke police visited the jail to conduct an investigation.
According to certain reliable sources, Suhail and Nishchit, who are under trial, were assaulted by Gowrish. However, according to another version of the story, Suhail is believed to have attacked Gowrish and a few others. Prisoners associated with the home stay attack tried to intervene, but they were also beaten up.
P. S. Ambekar, jail officer, said that no such fight took place. But another member of the jail staff said that fights are common among prisoners, adding that Sunday’s incident was just a petty fight that has been unnecessarily blown out of proportions.
