Mangalore, Dec 19, 2012 : A one-day seminar on Science and Spirituality was organised at St Aloysius College in Mangalore on December 18, Tuesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the seminar, Alex Hankey, a Professor of Yoga and Physical Science in Bangalore said the assumption was that God or soul did not exist if science could not understand them. However, this kind of attitude is contrary to human knowledge, he said and observed that the divine is a living reality for him.
Fr Swebert D’Silva, Principal of St Aloysius College, who also spoke said better understanding of oneself is the need of the hour.
Prof, Arunachalam Kumar, Director of Research and Development, Nitte University, said for him there was nothing divine in meditation, which he said only showed the wonders of concentration. It is not fear of God, but the love of God which should be the beginning of knowledge, he said.
ML Sureshnath, Head of the Department of Chemistry, Leo D’Souza, Director of Laboratory of Applied Biology and others spoke.
