Mangalore, Sep 8, 2013: A rally aimed at pressurizing the Government to include Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution was taken out from Ambedkar Circle to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Mangalore on September 7, Saturday under the aegis of the Namma Tulunad Trust and other likeminded organizations.
Addressing the rally near the DC office, BA Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangalore North Constituency said the state government was committed to give Tulu language its due recognition and added it has already written to the Centre on the issue.
Dr Vaman Nandavara, former president of Tulu Sahitya Academy, who also spoke on the occasion said there was a need for continuous struggle to prevail upon the government to fulfill the demand.
DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura in his address elected representatives must have the will power to fulfill this demand.
Sunitha Shetty, veteran writer from Mumbai, Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of Sahitya Parishat, Lakshminarayana Asranna, Chief Priest of Kateel Temple, Veteran writer Erya Lakshminarayana Alva, Seetaram Kulal, KN Tailor, Vijaykumar Kodialbail, GVS Ullal, Founder President of Tulunad Trust and others participated in the rally.
