Mangalore, Mar 17, 2013: Credibility is of utmost importance to the media and it has to uphold the truth at any cost, said Sudhir Ghate, Chairman of Magnum Intergrafiks Pvt Ltd.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Press Club Day celebrations organised at Lions Seva Mandir, Kadri on March 16, Saturday. The programme was jointly organized by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union (DKWJU), Mangalore Press Club and Patrika Bhavan Trust.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He also spoke on the change which the media world has undergone over the years due to the advent of technology.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive officer Dr KN Vijayaprakash who was the chief guest, urged the media against deviating from facts  as it would be detrimental to the interests of the society.
Talented Tulu actor Arjun Kapikad and senior journalist Manohar Prasad also spoke on the occasion.

Outstanding achievers namely Ronald Anil Fernandes, Mangalore Bureau Chief of Deccan Herald,  Dayananda Kukkaje from Daijiworld, Manohar Prasad from Udayavani, Sudhaker Ermal from Vijaya Karnataka, Sandhya D’Souza from Deccan Herald, Prashanth Kadekar, Agnel Rodrigues, Maunesh Vishwakarma, Lakshmi Machina, Satish Pundukai, Rajesh Shetty, Mohammad Arif Padubidri, Apul Ira, Satish Ira, Ravi Posavanike were  honoured.

Prizes were distributed to winners in various contests conducted for media men. A variety of cultural programmes were presented  on the occasion.
