Mangalore, Jan 21, 2013 : A two-day national level media fest ‘Media Manthan 2013’ was inaugurated by Rohini K, District Information Officer at the Eric Mathias Hall of St Aloysius College (Autonomous) on January 21, Monday. The theme  of the fest is ‘Celebrating 100 Years of Indian Cinema.’


In her address, Rohini exhorted the student community to make the best of every opportunity that comes their way during their college life. She was also appreciative of the creativity in choosing the theme for the Fest.

Fr Swebert D  Silva, Principal of  St Aloysius College, who presided over the function, stressed the need for media to fight justice. He also aired his concern when he said the present day cinema, most of the time presented an illusory world instead of depicting reality.  At the same time he regretted the fact that films which  portray reality are rejected by the audience.


 Noted Tulu  playwright and theatre personality Vijaykumar Kodialbail and Sandeep Malani, Bollywood  Director, were felicitated on the occasion.


Fr Francis Almeida, Vice Principal, Narahari, Registrar,  Lakshmi Shenoy and others were present.
As part of the two-day fest, various contests  including 8x10 Tasveer (Photography Contest), Viraam (Ad Making), Makhdi Ki Jaal (Web Designing), Peepli Live (Video Bulletin) Bol Bachchan (RJ Hunt), Taare Zameen Par (Quiz), Pehchaan Kaun (Mock Press), Kahaani (Trailer Making), Golmaal (Movie Spoof)and Chitragupt (Film Review)  are being held.


 There will also be workshops on film direction and techniques, acting and anchoring, , web designing; panel discussion on cultural diversity in Indian Cinema and interactive talk on ’commerce of the scientific art’.
