Mangalore, Jan 16, 2013: Mayor of Mangalore Gulzar Banu inaugurated a promotional exclusive five-day Jute Fair, an exhibition-cum-sale of lifestyle jute decorative products at Hotel Woodlands on January 16, Wednesday.
The National Jute Board under the Union Ministry of Textiles, has organized the exhibition. It has also organized buyer-seller meets, fashion shows, seminars and workshops for the promotion of the eco-friendly jute products.
Around 25 jute entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and other places are exhibiting their products at this 5-day fair.
National Jute Board Marketing Promotion Officer Mr. Ayyappan said that the participants are given stalls free of cost, adding that the board also intends to provide training programmes for those interested in the manufacture of jute.
The purpose of organizing jute fair was to create awareness on eco friendly jute products among the city dwellers.
A number of interesting jute products such as bags, bangles, purses, hair clips, chains, sandals, pencil boxes, mats, mobile covers, carpets, handicrafts, wall-hangings, file folder, jute pass book and original jute blended sarees are on display at the jute fair.
