Mangalore: ISKCON holds Sri Krishna Balarama Ratha Yatra with great fervour

Mangalore, Feb 3, 2013: The 10th annual Sri Krishna Balarama Ratha Yatra of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was held in the city on February 2, Saturday.

Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Phalimar Mutt, who blessed the occasion, described Lord Krishna as the God of Kaliyuga who comes to the rescue of his devotees who worship him with great devotion. Pulling the chariot helps one invoke the blessings of the Lord and attain eternal divinity, he said.

Dr Asha Rai, President of Asare Charitable Trust and Tejomaya, former MUDA chairman also spoke.

Rajiv Lochan Das of ISKCON who also spoke, said ISKCON was providing mid-day meals to six lakh school children in Karnataka and 25000 in Karnataka. Across the country, it offered mid-day meals to a total of 16 lakh children, he informed.

Thousands of devotees took part in the celebrations and pulled the chariot of Lord Krishna.
