Mangalore : Eid Milad celebrated with religious fervour

Mangalore, Jan24,2013: Eid Milad-un-Nabi is being celebrated with religious fervor by Muslim brethren all over the city on January 24,Thursday.

As part of the festival which marks the birthday of Prophet Mohammad, pecial prayers and Namaz were offered in various mosques across the city. Muslims attended the namaz in large numbers and exchanged greetings of the festival.

Several Muslims including young and old, dressed in traditional clothing, also took part in a procession which was taken out in Mangalore as part of the celebrations. Madrasa students too took out rallies.

The accompaniment of Dafli and music bands added colour to the procession. Various programmes are also organised to mark the day. Muslim organizations also take up religious and service initiatives on this day.
