Mangalore, May 18, 2013: Raviraj Hegde, President of the DK District Co-operative Milk Producers Union has said that the Union has registered a growth of 14 per cent during the year 2013-14 by collecting 2.23 lakh litres of milk per day.

Speaking to reporters here on May 18, Saturday, he said the total business of the Union which stood at Rs 367 crores in 2011-12 increased to Rs 451 crores in 2012-13 and is anticipated to reach a target of Rs 555 crores by the next year end. He said the share capital of the Union stood at Rs 738 lakhs while an incentive of Rs 355 lakhs has been provided to the growers last year.

The incentive provided to producers during 2012-13 stood at Rs 550 lakhs, he said
Raviraj Hegde further said a project report of Rs 1297 lakhs has been prepared under the Prestigious National Dairy Project and the same submitted to the Centre through the NDDB. He said a new production unit will be commencing in Mangalore Dairy of the Union with the assistance of NABARD. He said during the year 2013-14, the Union proposes to introduce new products like cashew burfi, flavoured milk of banana  and pineapple flavor  and jamoon.


He said presently  any shortage of milk is met with supplies from Hassan, Mysore, Mandya and Shimoga.

Union Directors Kaup Diwaker Shetty, Sucharitha Shetty, Mukunda  Naika, Janaki Hande, Managing Director, Satyanarayana, Manager Dr GV Hegde  were present.
