Mangalore, jan17,2013: There has been a total banking business of Rs 34,219.63 crore including Rs 22,992.67 crore deposits and Rs 11,226.96 crore advances during the second quarter ending on September 2012, informed JS Shenoy, Deputy General Manager of Syndicate Bank which is also the lead bank.
He was speaking at the review of the performance of banking sector in the district at a meeting held at ZP auditorium on January 17, Thursday. Shenoy further said that the rural branches of banks have registered a 30 per cent progress compared to branches in urban and semi-urban areas. The urban branches have registered 20 per cent progress, he informed.
Amarnath Hegde, Lead Bank Manager, who also spoke, said it has been targeted to provide banking services in 38 villages having a population ranging from 1600 -2000 by March 31,2013, to an equal number of villages having population between 1000 and 1599 by March 31,2014 and another 16 villages having population of less than 1000 by March 31,2015.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr KN Vijayaprakash presided over the function. Seetamma Project Director and others were present.
