Mangalore : DC inaugurates annual police sports meet

Mangalore, Dec 13, 2012: The annual Police Sports Meet  organized at the District Armed Police Reserved Grounds in Mangalore, was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner N Prakash on December 13, Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, said participation in sports activities go a long way in helping the police personnel maintain a healthy body  and mind which in turn will  help them discharge their duties efficiently.

 

 

 

 

Manish Kharbikar, Mangalore Police Commissioner, Abhishek Goel, District Superintendent of Police, M Mutturaya, DCP (Law and Order) and Dharamaiah, DCP(Crime) were on the dais. Several other police officials including Jagannath, Subhashchandra, Kavitha, Ravi S were also present.

There was a march past prior to the inaugural function.

The three day event will feature various athletic evnts including running race, relay, shot put, long jump, discus throw, triple jump,  javelin throw and shot put. Cricket, kabaddi, volleyball, slow motor cycle race and tug of war  will also be part of the event. The competitions will be conducted separately for the SI, CPI and ACP categories.  There will also be a marathon from Pumpwell to Police Grounds on December 15.

Over 150 police personnel from District Armed Reserve Police Force, City Armed Reserved Police Force, Mangalore South, Mangalore, Central, Mangalore North, Women Police and Puttur sub-division are taking part in the meet.

Western Range IGP Pratap Reddy will participate in the valedictory function to be held on December 15.
